2. Geology a place of high heat concentration near the earth's surface.
3. a place where a dangerous political situation exists or may develop into revolution, war, etc.
4. any location where a problem has emerged, as in a computer network, traffic system, etc.
a. a location where there is high likelihood of a bushfire occurring.
b. a particular area in a wildfire where there are smouldering logs, glowing embers, etc., retaining the fire and causing the threat of its renewal if conditions change for the worse.
6. Military a region in a contaminated area, etc.
7. a nightclub or similar place of entertainment.
8. a spot in the inlet manifold of an internal combustion engine which is heated by exhaust gases to vaporise the fuel.
9. a sharp metal spike or piece of carbon in the combustion chamber which becomes hot and causes pre-ignition.
10. Fishing a place where the fish are plentiful.
11. Veterinary Science a skin condition of animals characterised by skin infection initially caused by scratching an irritant such as a flea bite, infected cut, dermatitis, etc.
12. an area in which wi-fi is available to the general public as a wireless local area network, as in a coffee shop.
